Adventures in pro active health

So I'm 50 this year and feel I'm doing lots of the right things ... tons of exercise, eating well (recently turned vegetarian but more on that in a later post), prioritising sleep, reducing alcohol (not always successful but more on that in a later blog) and trying to balance life in general.
However, I have very few metrics to gauge my overall health so have decided to do some reading and take a trip to my wonderful GP surgery. My aim is to discuss what services the NHS can provide for me to get an assessment of my current health. Once I know what can and can't be achieved for free I can then move onto what am I willing to pay for. I'll update this blog once I've collated a one pager of things I want to discuss. Keen to get peoples comments as to what they're doing to gain more insight into their health.
